Beyoncé joins forces with NAACP to financially support small Black-owned businesses
Superstar Beyoncé Knowles for many years has used her platform and resources to elevate and empower marginalised communities.
Through her BeyGOOD foundation, the star has teamed up with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) to found the Black-Owned Small Business Impact Fund.
Her latest initiative is focused on providing support for Black-owned businesses that have been significantly negatively impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
A statement released by the NAACP said: "The challenges of Black business owners navigating in the climate cannot be understated, as the effects of uprisings across the nation have led to many businesses being placed in dire straits due to damages and other small business needs".
Grants of $10,000 (£7,923) will be awarded to Black-owned businesses in Houston, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Minneapolis and New York that are on the verge of collapse due to the global health crisis.
The BeyGood foundation has been in operation since 2013 to help inspire, uplift and be charitable to the community, both in the States and across the world.
Those who have been selected to receive a grant will be notified on July 31 via Beyonce.com.
