HAS BORIS JOHNSON DELIBERATELY OVERSHADOWED BLACK HISTORY MONTH?
BORIS JOHNSON has been accused of trying his utmost to ‘wipe Black History Month off the face of the map this year’. According to some reports and members of the Black community.
They believe that his ‘leave the EU on October 31 – ‘or die in a ditch’’, rhetoric has made the month seem irrelevant and taken any media spotlight the month might otherwise get.
“ From business, law and education to technology, sport and the creative arts, Black British people continue to leave an indelible mark upon every sphere of life in Britain….The Black British community, with its infectious entrepreneurial spirit, is leading the charge in the business arena .”
Last year BHM made it to the front pages of the press for all the wrong reasons when then Prime Minister, Theresa May, ‘enforced a hostile environment on the so-called Windrush Generation’.
A quote from Boris Johnson himself on BLACK HISTORY.ORG reads:
“Black History Month always provides a fantastic opportunity for us to recognize the outstanding contributions people of African and Caribbean descent have made to our country over many generations. From business, law and education to technology, sport and the creative arts, Black British people continue to leave an indelible mark upon every sphere of life in Britain….The Black British community, with its infectious entrepreneurial spirit, is leading the charge in the business arena: more than 11,000 BAME entrepreneurs have received government-backed Start Up Loans since 2012 and as we leave the European Union, opportunities to unleash talent and creativity around the world will only increase.”.
BORIS JOHNSON:
