Hip-Hop Hamilton to be released a year early on Disney+
Hip-hop musical Hamilton is to be released a year earlier than expected, and on Disney+ rather than cinemas.
A filmed version of the multi-award-winning Broadway musical, was originally scheduled for release in 2021.
Hamilton's star and creator Lin-Manuel Miranda tweeted: "It's only a matter of time… Our Hamilton film. THIS July 3rd. On Disney+."
Due to coronavirus outbreak, cinemas have been forced to close down causing the postponement of films expected to be released worldwide.
The Hamilton film was created in New York's Richard Rodgers Theatre, over the course of three performances from 2016.
Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2016, Hamilton tells the true story of the American revolution and the foundation of the US banking system, through the view of the first US Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton.
Disney boss Robert Iger said on Twitter: "In this very difficult time, this story of leadership, tenacity, hope, love & the power of people to unite against adversity is both relevant and inspiring. Thank you @Lin_Manuel!"
If you have the love for theatre and historical musicals, then do not miss the phenomenal production of Hamilton on Disney+ July 3rd.
