Michelle’s Becoming coming to Netflix
By Kia Fullerton
Michelle Obama has announced a deal with Netflix, a documentary which will be based on her best-selling book Becoming.
In her tweet, Mrs Obama said the documentary will “share the stories of the amazing people I met after the release of my memoir”.
Becoming had more first-week sales of any adult book, breaking the record in just 15 days. This memoir is a deeply personal experience, as it talks about Michelle’s upbringing, her time in the White House and her role as a mother.
The film directed by Nadia Hallgren, an award-winning filmmaker from the Bronx, New York will give insight into Michelle’s book tour around thirty-seven cities.
Netflix shared a snippet video from the documentary on Twitter. This captured a special moment of a Q&A session in Philadelphia, where Michelle Obama gave life pointers to young black girls.
“I’m doing what you’re doing, I’m figuring out ‘what do I want to do’. And it takes time to process your life and figure out what it all means”.
This Netflix documentary is set to be released on May 6th and let me be the first to say I am totally here for it!
